  I went to see Dr. Sun at the Berkeley Eye Center in Houston and had my follow-up visits and surgery at the Pearland location. Dr. Sun was very thorough as well as her employees when I went in to her office for what I thought was an eye allergy problem. Dr. Sun diagnosed me immediately with something totally different and had me put antibiotic medicine in my eye, stating if my condition did not get better I should have surgery. I was a bit apprehensive about having surgery so I hoped the eye medicine worked. The medicine ended up not working but Dr. Sun assured me she had done a lot of surgeries and mine was very minor. Dr. Sun and her employees took really great care of me and I never had to wait long for my original or follow-up appointments. I plan on recommending everyone I speak to, to Dr. Sun. She is truly amazing.

  Did an eye exam with them and they ordered a blood test and a CT scan in the location of their choice. Called them after i did all the tests if i need to do anything and they asked to wait for their calls. After almost 2 weeks without hearing anything, i called them (which they put me into their voice mail 2 times) only to hear they haven't got the test results from both locations so they can't do anything, even though i myself received all the results a long time ago. I don't know how their system works and why they didn't receive the results in both locations but they left me hanging for 2 weeks and now asked me to do the work for them and try to contact the testing locations to fax them the test results. This just shows how much they don't care about their patients and how unorganized their system is. Will never come again after this.

  Waited for over an hour. I had to approach the manager as to why the long wait. Gave me the normal set of scripted excuses...new system, short staffed, etc. I think what doctor offices are missing in all this is that for a mutually agreed price, the customer (us) agrees to their services. In the agreement - which in essence is a contract due to the exchange of money - we agree to a set time to meet amd exchange money for services. This set time - appointment - is a contract to which has been agreed. If the customer breaks said contract - no call no show - then they get charged nonetheless. This makes this agreement a contract. A doctor’s office is no more special then a mechanic’s garage...an appointment is an appointment and needs to be honored. This is where Berkley - I believe - plays a game: Notice at check in they ask to make a copy of your ID (drivers license) yet do not give it back to you??? I believe this is so that most people who are frustrated with waiting do not just leave...they are bound to the waiting room because they are too timid to complain and ask for their ID. This is a tactic to keep us in our chairs. Berkely actually has no rights under law to hold your ID. They can ask to validate the info you gave...but cannot hold your ID ransom until after your appointment. Now, the courteous thing to do would be to inform those who are waiting that they are having issues and that it will be a long wait. Those of us who have jobs, time our appointments around other work events and thus would be able to reschedule without wasting our day. Think of it this way...if your agreed upon appointment time was a job interview - and it is by the way - then they would forfeit the opportunity for employment since they didn’t show up on time.
